Sam Addo's Photos

The photos below are of Sam Addo, a bodybuilder originally from Ghana, who came to the United States. I met him at an NPC competition in San Francisco that he did not win, but it seemed to me that he stood out as having a perfectly proportioned and symmetrical physique. At the end of the competition I arranged to meet with him the next morning and to do a photoshoot with him until he had top get to the airport for a flight to Portland, Oregon in mid-afternoon.

The result of that shoot was a series of photos that rank as some of my best, even though I have taken thousands of bodybuilding photos since then.

Sam could have had it all -- and was on the edge of it -- when his career was unfortunately brought down by his attempt on returning to the United States to bring illegal substanbces into the country. He was deported back to Ghana.

Had he remained in the United States, I would imagine he would have become an IFBB pro. Amataur or pro, he would have been one of the most famous bodybuilders in the world because of his physique and his opverall handsomeness. He is no longer working out, according to my sources in Africa. To me, he remains one of the great tragic figures of recent bodybuilding.

We had a lot of fun at a window on a local junior college campus where Sam played to the mirror. In the photo accompanying this one, you can see what excellent thigh development Sam had.
