I thought you might like to see a few of the photos I took two weeks ago with Alton Sanders.  I met Alton at a local natural bodybuilding show and thought he looked both very good and also very distinctive.  I saw a great deal of character in his face.

These photos are from a photo shoot we did at three different locations in the same day.  I didn't like most of the shots in the first location, except for the tree shot.  I think the shots in front of the waterfall were the best.  I liked some of the shots on the beach, especially the one I have nicknamed "The Return of the Jedi."

By the way, Alton just turned 50.

Alton, himself, is an excellent person.  He is far more intelligent and sophisticated than most people.  He lived for something like five years in Germany, speaks fluent German, and has an international viewpoint about the world.  He is also a master of  (I think it is properly called) karate, and a first-rate masseur.

Satirical Bodybuilding Photos

One of the most intelligent bodybuilders I have met is Lawrence Hosannah, who is actually English-African rather than African-American. Lawrence came to the United States from England at a very early age, and when he talks, you hear New York, not England. In addition to being astute, his perspective is somewhat different from that of the average Black in America.

He and I had a telephone conversation before we ever met face-to-face in which we discussed ways to dramatize a question about American racism: Why is it that Blacks are often assumed to be stupid and are only offered corporate jobs as janitors or mail clerks ? Here are some of the wry, satirtical photos we eventually put together. Yes, they are heavy with symbolism.

We took a lot of shots that day -- some of them more conventionally focused on bodybuilding, others satirical with a message, and others more serious with a message I'll put up all these kinds of photos of him over the next few days.
